68 The Costume Designer Fall 2017 IN FOCUS BOLDFACE NAMES BFN - HONORS When the head of content for Mr Porter, Jeremy Langmead ap- proached CD Arianne Phillips and proposed the idea of doing a short 10-20 minute documentary about her work as a Costume Designer that would run on the Mr Porter website, alongside the release of the film Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Dressing the Part started out as a short documentary but ended up taking a year to make, with the director Michael McCool traveling between London, Paris, Rome, New York, and Los Angeles with a wish list of interviews. He had no idea that no one would say no. The project ended up turn- ing into a 50-minute overview of Phillips' body of work. She says, "I admit the idea of a documentary, while flattering, was overwhelming and anxiety producing for me since my career spans film, theater, fashion, and music—each with equal parts. I had no idea how a film could balance all these disciplines and keep the audience engaged. In the end, while it is a bit surreal to have someone curate my career with outside eyes, I am extremely happy, grateful, and humbled by all the incredible interviews given by directors and artists I have collaborated with. The most meaningful part is the connection the director made from the hopes and dreams of my young self to my adult self through interviews with my parents and old home movies." Arianne Phillips: Dressing the Part President Emeritus of the CDG, CD Jacqueline Saint Anne, is now Creative Director of Film and Televi- sion Costume Design at FIDM. Saint Anne cheekily says, "After a lengthy career as a freelance artist, I finally have a job." She hopes to steer FIDM's program toward the heights of professionalism and job readiness for their graduates. Saint Anne invites the CDG membership to reach out to her. She wants us to know she is engaged and asks of us, "What did you wish you knew before you started your first CD, ACD, or ILL job?" Additionally, Saint Anne has begun her 12th opera season with Handel's Alcina at USC's Thornton opera, opening October 16. She has worked at the Chicago Opera Theatre, the Long Beach Opera, the Pasadena Opera, and many others. Jacqueline Saint Anne
