Director Development Initiative Hosts interactive lab Building Your Team: Agents and Managers
On August 16, the DGA Director Development Initiative held its third interactive lab, Building Your Team: Agents and Managers, in the Los Angeles Boardroom. The
event was designed to provide an opportunity for the participants to better understand the world of representation and help them establish new relationships for their
futures via a panel discussion with Directors Michael Goi, Jaffar Mahmood and Rosemary Rodriguez; Agents Jonas Brooks, Toochis Morin Rose and Brant Rose; and
Manager Dana Jackson. In a conversation moderated by Director Mary Lou Belli, the panelists covered subjects including the art of building a team and the importance
of working with representation to further a creative career. Following the discussion, the attendees broke into smaller groups where they met with agents and managers
(see full list on www.dga.org). The lab ended with a wrap up discussion and the attendees were free to engage in an informal network session.

Screens Keith Maitland's Tower
Director Keith Maitland's new documentary, Tower, recalls the afternoon
of August 1, 1966, when a gunman took the elevator to the top floor of
the iconic University of Texas tower and opened fire. He killed 16 people,
wounded 31 others and held the campus hostage for 96 minutes. The film,
which is based entirely on first-person testimonies from witnesses, heroes
and survivors of the tragedy won the Audience Award and the Grand Jury
Award at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival.
Following the screening in the Guild's Los Angeles Theater on August 9,
Maitland discussed the making of the film in a conversation moderated by
DGA Special Projects Committee member Ondi Timoner.
Maitland's filmography also includes the feature documentaries A Song for
You: The Austin City Limits Story and The Eyes of Me.
