DRIZZLING PERFECTION The already scrumptiously thin, flaky pizzas at Atlanta's Varasano's Pizzeria are only bettered by the thirst-quenching cocktails offered, such as the Caprese Bloody Mary. The renowned pizzeria created this drink using ingredients already familiar to the food menu, including buffalo mozzarella, the restaurant's personal strain of oregano and eight-year-aged balsamic vinegar that "pours over like syrup." Brett Holdsclaw of Varasano's Pizzeria PHOTOS: EDWARD ZELTSER Partner and former mixologist Brett Holdsclaw believes that Karlsson's Gold allows for the ingredients in the well-received Caprese Bloody Mary to sing: "It's not your standard vodka. It doesn't overpower the drink. It's the type of vodka that you use to make a truly balanced cocktail." Unlike many vodkas that are perfect for creating a stiff drink, Holdsclaw s r says, "Karlsson's really accents the flavors in our Bloody Mary, especially the a cold, refreshing vodka and a hot pizza that use similar ingredients just phenomenally well together." eshing vodka and a hot pizza similar ingredients just goes goes y well together —Ariela K Kozin Caprese Bloody Mary 1½ oz. Having Navarro Carr of Sound Table PHOTOS: EDWARD ZELTSER SOUNDS SWEET Sound Table has been innovative in the development of Atlanta's nightlife thanks to nightly DJs, sleek seating and, of course, Karlsson's Gold cocktails. For Sound Table's bar manager Navarro Carr, Karlsson's was the only vodka that would make his favorite cocktail, the Golden Ticket, pop. "Only a spirit with a Vodka, could stand up to an egg white." But, according al y a spirit with a backbone, like Karlsson's Gold could stand ding to Carr, the potency is sweet. "I like Karlsson's because of its earthy, chocolate flavor profile. Vodkas general are made to be odorless, has made Golden Ticket able men menu since the has made Golden Table neutral spirits."al spirits It is the marriage of vanilla, nutmeg and Karlsson's unique profile that et a mainstay on the Sound utmeg and u since the establishment's opening, best described as a "cult best described as a "cult fa favorite." —A.K.
