I became a member of NEA/WEA my first year of teaching in 1990 and have been a member every year I have been a teacher since. I started teaching in Evanston, Wyoming, and taught there for 8 years. I then moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming, where I became the NW District UniServ Director for the WEA for 5 years. Because I had small children at the time and felt I needed to be home more with them, I took a job teaching at Hot Springs County School District and am currently teaching here. I have taught kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades over the 15 years of my teaching career. WEA is my passion and I am very excited to be a part of the board! Lisa Herold Northwest Region President I am currently teaching 5th grade at Carpenter Elementary in Laramie County SD #2. I have been in the district for 17 years, and this is my 20th year in education. I have taught a wide variety of grades, including a stint as an Instructional Facilitator. I ran for the position because I wanted to be part of the change in leadership in the WEA. I also missed the chance to work with educational employees around the state to make public education in Wyoming the best system in the nation. As a new board member, I want to work with Southeast Region leaders to help integrate and implement organizing in all of our locals. I also want to find ways to engage our members in their association so that we are making this an association of members and leaders. Finally, I hope we can support our members in the many challenges that are facing all of us in education today. Craig Williams Southeast Region President I have been a member of NEA/WEA/ACEA for 8 years. During those 8 years I have served as a local president, secretary and been a member of the Government Relations Committee. This is also my 8th year of teaching and I have taught Special Education all 8 years. I am currently teaching at Centennial Valley Elementary School, but I have also taught at the junior high level and high school level of Special Education. I am very excited to serve as a representative to the board! Tia Reed Southeast Region Representative Julie has been with the WEA for over 12 years, and with Laramie County School District #1 for over 25 years. While in the district, she was at Anderson Elementary, and is now at Johnson Junior High School in Cheyenne, WY, where she serves as a resource para in the special education office. Julie has enjoyed being part of the association, because of the representation and opportunities the WEA offers. She enjoys being involved and involving others, because she has learned so much about education and all its different facets. Julie Tucker Southeast Region Representative I'm Meagan Ross and I'm 21 years old. I'm a senior at UW and will be student-teaching in the spring at Goins Elementary in Cheyenne. the little ones because I had such great primary year teachers and loved school growing up; now I want to make learning fun and enjoyable and pass on the love of school to other children. I love working with children and seeing the progress that they can make in a year. I prefer Meagan Ross Student WEA President I decided to run for SWEA president because I have really enjoyed doing the office at UW and wanted to be able to stretch myself and work with other teachers and staff in the state. I also knew that there were a few things that needed done between the state and local levels with the students, and I felt that my organizational skills would be able to help.
