CHILDREN AND SUICIDE PREVENTION TOPIC OF FALL 2012 FREE WEBINARS: Reducing youth suicide in America by better understanding how to interact with children who have suicidal thoughts is the focus of a new series of 3 interactive webinars from Well AwareTM prevention educational and public awareness initiative designed specifically for school administrators, education policymakers and other professionals working with youth populations. These webinars will also be archived on the same Website for future viewing. Wyoming, a suicide 3. CONFERENCE ON PERSONAL FINANCE EDUCATION IN THE CLASSROOM. The only national educator conference devoted entirely to personal finance education in the classroom will be held by the Jump$tart Coalition® Nov. 2-4, 2012, in Chicago. Conference fee of $395 includes 2 nights' lodging, conference meals and more! Participation is limited & on a first come, first served basis. WDE is providing training around the new English Language Arts standards of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for all elementary classroom teachers and secondary English teachers. LITERACY SUMMIT FEATURING KYLENE BEERS AND ROBERT PROBST. WY Literacy Summit will be held Oct. 20th elementary and secondary teachers and administrators, as well as home school, private school, and institutional school personnel. WYOMING NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION INITIATIVE RUNNING START WORKSHOP: Oct. 18-20, 2012. You must be a National Board Candidate and have paid your $565 to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in order to attend this workshop. A comprehensive presentation of all aspects of the National Board Certification process, this workshop is designed for teachers who are NBC candidates, facilitators and candidate support providers for the WY National Board Certification Initiative. Register online at the Initiative's website, www.wnbci.org. Attendance is limited to the first 50 participants. 7. SPECIAL EDUCATION AND REGULAR EDUCATION STAFF (MATH AND READING TEACHERS): 2013 Special Education Conference will be held at the Shoreline Conference Center (North Seattle) on March 6-8, 2013. This is a 3-day conference offering 15 full-day, in-depth courses (19.5 contact hours) to choose from, taught by several internationally renowned presenters. www.rehabseminars.org. 8. INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES FOR U.S. CLASSROOM TEACHERS: The U.S. Dept. of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs offers grants for U.S. primary and secondary school teachers to participate in international exchanges during 2013-2014 academic year through the Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program (FCTE) and the Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching (DA). Teachers must have at least 5 years of experience, a B.A. degree, and be currently employed in a full-time teaching position at a U.S. primary or secondary school.
