Wyoming's Select Committee on Statewide Education Accountability. that professional practice could be measured via: "a professional portfolio documenting key aspects of teacher practice that is based upon professional self-reflection and goal setting; analysis of key artifacts such as student work from specific assignments, planning documents, and assessments; and observations of practice by educational leaders and potentially peers." However, since Wyoming does not currently have standards by which to judge professional practice, the Advisory Committee will need to decide whether it has time to do the work to create or adopt some, or conversely, whether it should recommend to JEC that it authorize a separate opportunity for that work to be done. President Kathy Vetter, and Government Relations Director Ken Decaria attend Joint Appropriations Committee meeting at the Capitol. Measures of student performance, according to Marion, might include: "Student Learning Objectives; Student Growth Percentiles (if applicable); and shared attribution of at least part of the SLO and/ or SGP results depending upon local theories of action around school improvement." There was emphasis by Marion and several committee members that they are NOT advocating going the route of merit pay or tying teacher performance to monetary incentives, which, according to Marion, has not proven successful elsewhere in the nation or world.
