PATRONS | Spring 2017 9 Edison Elementary Raises $901 for Hunt Cancer Institute EVERY DONATION COUNTS Torrance Memorial Medical Center's Adopt-a-School partner, Calle Mayor Middle School, presented the medical center with an assortment of gift cards worth a total of $105, for teens supported by Harbor Interfaith Services in San Pedro. e school's Associate Student Body sold more than 200 holiday candy grams and used the proceeds to purchase the gift cards they thought teens would especially like for Christmas. Teens Receive Gifts from Calle Mayor Middle School Edison Elementary School's "Team Kids," a nonprofit group focused on helping kids give back to their communities, presented a check for $901 to Torrance Memorial's Hunt Cancer Institute. e fifth graders raised the money through ticket sales for their school carnival fundraiser. e donation will support the Hunt Cancer Institute's cancer care services. Spirit of Giving Fills Up Toy Drive Bins Torrance Memorial Medical Center's annual Holiday Toy Drive generated 16 boxes of toys that were delivered to the Pediatric unit and Harbor Interfaith Services, a nonprofit Torrance Memorial supports as part of its mission to improve the health of the community. Harbor Interfaith Services serves the homeless and working poor by providing shelter, training and support to help people get back on their feet. Torrance Memorial departments also sponsored 15 families, providing a full holiday meal, along with gift cards. In addition, Macy's Del Amo organized its own Toy Drive for Torrance Memorial's Pedatric Unit patients. Each department delivered a box brimming with toys to be enjoyed for years to come.
