BevForce Hot Shot Each month we check in with one BevForce Mover & Shaker to provide you with some behind-the-scenes insight on the job search process, the beverage industry's most innovative companies and the executives who drive them. This month, we chatted with Dan Saurer, who was recently named Vice President National Accounts at Voli Spirits. He was previously Off-Premise National Accounts Director at White Rock Distilleries. TP: How would you defi ne Voli's culture and what attracted you to it? DS: Voli Spirits is a small, entrepreneurial company that provides the opportu- nity to "wear many hats," giving the team a chance be involved in areas of the business that, at a larger company, you wouldn't be exposed. The number-one thing that attracted me to Voli was our CEO, Adam Kamenstein. I loved his passion for making Voli into a leading spirits brand. Having two celebrity owners in Pit Bull and Fergie was an attraction as well. TP: What advice would you give to job seekers looking for their next role? DS: Make sure you are going to love what you do. The other piece of advice I would give is to do your homework and ask lots of questions. For me, the more questions I asked, the more I knew I was going to enjoy working at Voli. TP: If you weren't sipping a Voli Vodka straight, you would be drinking . . . DS: A Voli Light and Cranberry. However I really like the Voli Light Pink Lemonade—a nice cocktail to enjoy in the sun. 14 / the tasting panel / september 2012
