BELLE MEADE BOURBON: Unique, Timeless and Modern Striking a Balance Belle Meade Bourbon is the rebirth of a pre-Prohibition brand with a timeless quality and a modern appeal. The diverse, award-winning collection includes the the Classic Belle Meade Bourbon, Belle Meade Sherry Cask Finish, Belle Meade Cognac Cask Finish, Belle Meade Madeira Cask Finish and Belle Meade Cask Strength Single Barrel Bourbon. Belle Meade Bourbon was originally produced by Nelson's Green Brier Distillery in conjunction with the Sperry, Wade & Company from the late 1800s until 1909, when Tennessee's statewide Prohibition shuttered the original distillery. In keeping with the brand's history, and to assure only the finest quality bourbon is labeled Belle Meade Bourbon, the craftspeople at Nelson's Green Brier Distillery painstakingly select barrels sourced from one of the nation's most notable distilleries. A proprietary blend of four barrels per batch, using two different mash bills and yeast strains, further ensures that no other bourbon in the world tastes quite like Belle Meade Bourbon. Belle Meade Bourbon's signature recipe, noted for its spicy high rye content and 90.4 bottling proof, is conceived as a versatile spirit. It can be enjoyed neat, with a splash, on the rocks or in a well-made cocktail. —Elyse Glickman 1 12  /  the tasting panel  /  january/february 2017 CATEGORY REPORT
