Of Murphy, Mrs. Simek, a parent, wrote: "He not only teaches the foundations of the Air Force, but also leadership qualities….. He stays at school most days until 4:30, using his own resources to help his cadets. He puts his students first, without need for recognition." Tammy Heilman praises Lenny Knight because, "He inspires his students to be the best that they can can while learning to perfect their playing ability. He is well-liked by ALL students in the school, and has become a mentor to both my kids. He is having a very difficult year going through dialysis, but still shows up to work each and every day, with a smile on his face and a positive attitude for all of 'his kids.'" In addition to a plaque, each WJBR's Brian DeMay (left) tells Major John Murphy what a parent said about how he inspires leadership. This testimony results in a well-deserved "Teacher of the Month" Award recognition for Murphy, a Jr. ROTC instructor at Dover High School. 10 July 2012 DSEA ACTION! teacher also received dinner for two at Café Gelato.
