Ford joins the company with more than a decade of post production engineering and IT experience, most re- cently as VP of technology at Company 3, New York. At Post Factory NY, Ford will assume the lead role in technology operations, strategy and planning. His first task will be to guide the technical aspects of a major expansion of the facility's color grading and finishing services for theatrical and television projects. Ford originally joined Company 3 as a DI systems manager in 2004. He was promoted to director of technology in 2010 and to VP of technology in 2013. In the latter role, he had oversight for technology operations at facilities in New York and Atlanta. He began his career with Title House in Hollywood. ANDREW DOGA Andrew Doga has been promoted to staff editor at the bicoastal Union. He's been with the comp- any since 2009, and recently cut Hello From Home Mallory, one of three short documentary pieces for Hershey's via Arnold Worldwide. Doga also edited a pair of documentary projects: Diandra's Story for Burt's Bees and Leland for Avis. In addition, he served as co-editor on an episode of the popular Web series Dryvrs. Before joining Union, Doga was a freelance assistant. CHERYL BOONE ISAACS Cheryl Boone Isaacs was re-elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by the organization's Board of Governors. Boone Isaacs heads CBI Enterprises, Inc., where she consults on film marketing efforts. She is currently an adjunct professor at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts and serves as a trustee of the American Film Institute. In May, Boone Isaacs received an honorary Doctor of Arts degree from the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, and also received the 2016 Rosa Parks Humanitarian Award from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Southern California. She has con- sulted on The Artist, The King's Speech, Spider-Man 2 and Tupac: Resurrection. She previously held posts with New Line Cinema and Paramount Pictures. JOHN RESNER Editor John Resner has joined Deluxe creative edito- rial company Beast in New York. For the past several years, Resner has worked with agencies, including Wieden+Kennedy, R/GA and Ogilvy, cutting proj- ects for Nike, Delta, Samsung, ESPN, Gatorade, NBC Sports, Southern Comfort, Dairy Queen and Burger King. His accolades include Cannes Silver and Bronze Lions, D&AD Pencils and many thumbs up and high fives from clients. Prior to joining Beast, Resner wrapped a Clash of the Clans campaign with Psyop for BFG9000. With more than a decade of experience, he's also spent time at editorial houses Peepshow Post and NO6. BOB BACON LA's Alpha Group Co. Ltd. has announced that Bob Bacon will serve as CEO of Alpha Animation, a new division dedicated to the development and produc- tion of high-quality animated feature content. In his new role, Bacon will oversee all aspects of develop- ment, production and operations as he leads Alpha's efforts to build a global animation powerhouse. Bacon most recently held the post of executive vice presi- dent of production for Paramount Animation, where he served as head of the animation division. There, he oversaw the production and launch of 2015's The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water, and helped develop a full slate of films for the studio to release through 2019. MICHELLE MUNSON The Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) has named Michelle Munson as the recipient of its 2016 Charles S. Swartz Award. Munson is co-found- er and CEO of Aspera (an IBM Company), is the co-inventor of Aspera's FASP transport technology, and is responsible for overseeing the company's direction in collaboration with co-founder, Serban Simu. Munson was a software engineer in research and start-up companies, including the IBM Almaden Research center, before founding Aspera in 2004. She has dual B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Physics from Kansas State University, was a Goldwater Scholar for achievement in Science and Mathematics, and later was a Fulbright Scholar at Cambridge University. The HPA Awards will be handed out in November at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. MARK GOLDBLATT The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in LA recently announced that Oscar nominee Mark Goldblatt (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) won the runoff election for the open Film Editors Branch seat on the 2016–17 Board of Governors. Goldblatt returns to the Board after a one-year hiatus. He and Oscar nominee Maryann Brandon tied for the seat in the Board election last month, and Film Editors Branch members were asked to vote in the runoff. This is the third time in Academy history that a tie occurred in the balloting. Runoff elections were held in 2009 in the Directors Branch, and last year in the Writers Branch. NICK CHIOU Chicago-based Cutters has promoted Nick Chiou to editor. A Chicago native and life-long hockey player, Chiou earned his B.A. in digital cinema from DePaul University, where he also pursued his passion for hockey. After beginning his career as an assistant edi- tor working for several Chicago area post companies, he joined Cutters as an assistant in 2011. Recognized as one of the company's hardest-working and most technically-savvy assistants, Chiou has also set himself apart as an AICE Chicago Camp Kuleshov committee member, as the captain of the Cutters Studios Hockey Team — and most importantly, in the cutting room. Recent commercials include work for American Airlines/Citibank, Disney and Nike.
