PLUG-INS NEWS www.postmagazine.com 39 POST JUNE 2016 CINEVERSITY RELEASES CV-VR CAM FOR CINEMA 4D VR WORKFLOW NEWBURY PARK, CA — Cineversity (CV), the dedicated education and resource Website (www.cineversity.com) from Maxon Computer, Inc., for Cinema 4D (www.maxon.net) users, has released CV-VR Cam, a new plug-in for rendering virtual reality (VR) content. Cineversity is also providing several comprehensive tutorial series to help CG artists learn the technical aspects of creating pre-ren- dered or interactive VR video content. The new Cineversity VR content includes CV-VR Cam Plugin V.1.5, which renders spherical or cubic monoscopic or stereoscopic VR output. It includes Pole Merging and supports camera orientation. The accompanying training series shows how to create VR content with Cinema 4D using CV-VR Cam with the Advanced or Physical Render, or with Octane for Cinema 4D. There's also an Interactive VR with C4D/Unity/Oculus quick start series that takes viewers through the process of exporting Cinema 4D project files to the Oculus Rift by way of the Unity Game Engine. Kitchen VR is a tutorial series that explores the process of using Mettle's Skybox Studio software and Cineware in After Effects to render a 360-degree VR video of a kitchen. It includes non-photorealistic line drawing as well as final GI renders created with CV-VR Cam. The Maxon CV-VR Cam is available to all Cineversity Premium members via the CV-Toolbox installer, a growing collection of third-party plug-ins, scripts and presets to optimize the Cinema 4D workflow. Premium Cineversity membership is available with all Cinema 4D annual license (MSA) agreements. Cineversity Premium Membership can also be purchased separately on the site. FILMLIGHT AND AVID LAUNCH 'PROFESSIONAL COLOR' BUNDLE FOR EDITORS LONDON — FilmLight (www.filmlight.ltd.uk) is collaborating once again with Avid, and introducing a new Professional Color bundle for editors. FilmLight first showed Baselight Editions on Avid Media Composer at the 2012 NAB Show and since then the two companies have worked closely to improve interoperability between their products. The Professional Color bundle brings together Baselight for Avid — which delivers the popular color grading toolset — with Avid Media Composer in one single package. Immediately available on Mac or Windows for $1,799, the bundle makes it easy for editors to increase their finishing capabilities directly within their NLE system. Baselight for Avid is a realtime plug-in, so color corrections can be played directly on the Avid timeline. It provides unlimited primary and secondary grades in a single layer, including mattes, automatic object tracking and full keyframe animation. As well as using modified AAF files to exchange grades, Baselight for Avid shares the same BLG color metadata as all systems in the FilmLight range, so projects can be transferred and shared between on-set, near-set and the grading suite without rendering, and with the latest grade always available in editorial for a powerful and fast workflow. WAVES AUDIO ANNOUNCES THE DTS NEURAL SURROUND COLLECTION KNOXVILLE, TN — Waves Audio (www.waves.com) and DTS (www. dts.com) have collaborated to create the DTS Neural Surround Collection, a bundle that includes three plugins — DTS Neural Surround DownMix, DTS Neural Surround UpMix and DTS Neural Mono2Stereo. DTS Neural Surround DownMix is a plug-in that reduces mul- tichannel surround sound to a stereo mix while accurately representing the original intent of the content creator. Featuring the patented Active Correction Technology, DTS Neural Surround DownMix fixes common downmix issues, such as comb filtering and spatial inaccuracies. The result is a natural-sounding stereo mix that is spatially true to the original multichannel localization. DTS Neural Surround UpMix is for live and post production workflows. It pro- vides control and consistency when creating 5.1 or 7.1 content from stereo or 5.1 source material. DTS Neural Surround UpMix is intended for projects where orig- inal source elements are not available in the desired multichannel mixing format. Combining precision and creative flexibility, DTS Neural Surround UpMix pro- vides comprehensive creative controls for soundfield width and depth, channel layout, output levels, LFE filtering and final limiting. Audio stems processed with DTS Neural Surround UpMix properly downmix in the consumer environment. DTS Neural Mono2Stereo provides complete control over how mono ele- ments are positioned and perceived in the final stereo or 5.1 mix. By assigning multiple DTS Neural Mono2Stereo instances on sub-mixes or individual mono sources, audio elements can be spatially separated to preserve intelligibility and create an enveloping image, nearly indistinguishable from native stereo content.
