22 CINEMONTAGE / Q1 2016 J ust over two years ago, the Editors Guild's Website Committee engaged in the re-design of the Guild website, www.editorsguild.com. After compiling wish lists, writing an RFP (request for proposal), ascertaining what new tools will benefit the members and, finally, interviewing and vetting almost a dozen vendors, the Website Committee is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors approved the implementation of a new website design and infrastructure. Co-Chairperson John Vitale said, "The process was grueling, but to see the vast creativity in the presentations of so many companies was impressive and very educational. I am confident we will deliver a superior new website." Some members have already met our new designers, Studio Blue, located in Chicago. The Guild staff brought them to several workplace sites so they could see firsthand the diverse crafts that we represent and get a feel for our members in action. Members got a chance to chat with Studio Blue representatives and identify their favorite features of the website, as well as to suggest areas of improvement. Co-Chairperson F. Hudson Miller, MPSE, was most impressed after visiting Studio Blue's client site, The Art Institute of Chicago (www.artic.edu). "I knew this company could deliver us a site exemplifying the sophistication of our artistry inside a utilitarian tool." The new site is still a work in progress, but some of the main areas of focus surrounded streamlining the navigation of the site, ensuring member-related tools were first and foremost, improving the "post community" element, and ensuring that the site could handle all new mobile platforms. Studio Blue and the Website Committee are working hard to deliver a top-notch user experience! A mock-up of the new homepage is pictured above.
