Held at The City Club of San Francisco, the evening gave Bay Area-based Guild members and local industry professionals an opportunity to socialize and network with their peers as they celebrated the Northern California film, television and video/digital industry. After welcoming addresses from SFCC Chair John Morse, Vice-Chair Kathleen Courtney and Networking Subcommittee Chair Ted Leonard, the Committee presented DGA Award-winning Director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) with a certificate of merit in recognition of his dedication and contributions to the film community of Northern California, such as his recent project Steve Jobs which filmed in the area. In addition to Steve Jobs, Boyle's filmography includes the feature films Shallow Grave, 28 Days Later..., and 127 Hours; the movies for television The Nightwatch and Strumpet; and the pilot for the mini-series Babylon. Boyle won the Academy Award and the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for Slumdog Millionaire. He joined the DGA in 2009. photos: 1. Held in the Guild's New York boardroom, the evening was a look back on the career of the longtime Stage Manager of Late Show with David Letterman who has been a DGA member for nearly forty years. Following a welcome from AD/SM/PA Council East Chair/ EDSC Co-Chair Joyce Thomas, Henderson sat down with Late Show with David Letterman Director Jerry Foley for an entertaining discussion about Henderson's career and their roles on Letterman, a show he had stage managed for its entire run. The conversation was illustrated by clips of the memorable on-screen appearances he made on Letterman during his tenure of over thirty years. Afterwards he took questions from the audience. In addition to Late Show with David Letterman, Henderson's resume includes working as a Stage Manager on its precursor The David Letterman Show; as well as the Today Show, Sunrise, NBC Nightly News, NBC Sports, Saturday Night Live, Later with Bob Costas and the game show To Tell the Truth. Henderson has been a DGA member since 1977. photos: 1. Stage Manager Biff Henderson. 2. Director Jerry Foley (moderator) asks Henderson a question. 3. DGA members hear about Henderson's career. 4.
