VALERIE MACON Los Angeles E ngaging millennial performers is the mission of SAG-AFTRA's NextGen Performers Subcommittee. NGP did just that at its summer celebration on Aug. 29 at the AT&T Center in Downtown Los Angeles. Partnering with NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA), the reception allowed guests to network and connect with fellow industry professionals. Subcommittee Chair and host Ben Whitehair opened the reception and introduced the group of speakers: special host Scott Wolf (Party of Five), SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director David White, L.A. Local Second Vice President and MOVE Committee Chair Ellen Crawford, and NFMLA Executive Director Larry Laboe. Wolf shared a story about his start in the industry and why the union is so important. The annual NYC Diversity Week showcases the NBC Entertainment Programming Talent Development & Inclusion Department's efforts to increase diversity in front of and behind the camera. Guests included several filmmakers, NBCUniversal diversity staff, and diversity representatives from the DGA and WGA.
