Black Meetings & Tourism December 2009: www.blackmeetingsandtourism.com 66 Milwaukee, business travelers enjoy the relaxing ambiance offered by The Delafield Hotel. This is the only Wisconsin destination certified by the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The 38-roomed boutique hotel fea- tures more than 5,500 sq. ft. of space, three venues as well as professional planners to coordinate events. As a business partner with the nationally acclaimed Erin Hills golf course, the hotel offers corporate event golf pack- ages, as well as transportation. The Midwest Airlines Center is one of the world's most architecturally exhilarating convention facilities; it is located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. Many come to the Center just to admire its design, however, while popular for it's looks, it's also a hard-working facility. The Midwest Airlines Center has 188,695 sq. ft. of contiguous, state-of-the-art exhibit space and a 37,506-sq. ft. ballroom with capacity for 3,150 diners and ample utilities for corporate theater. An additional 39,364 sq. ft. of meeting space can be partitioned into as many as 28 meeting and breakout rooms. The Midwest Airlines Center bet- ter connects events to Milwaukee's flourishing downtown. Skywalks to the Hilton and Hyatt hotels link some 1,500 rooms to the Midwest Airlines Center and there are more nearby. The Center is just a block from the Museum Center containing the Milwaukee Public Museum, Humphrey I-Max Theater and Discovery World Museum, three blocks from the Theater District and easy walking distance to other hotels, shopping, dining, nightlife, festivals and attractions. The General Mitchell International Airport is located just six miles south of downtown Milwaukee. WISCONSIN DEllS In downtown Wisconsin Dells there are attractions, mini-golf cours- es, souvenir and gift shops, antique stores, amusement parks, haunted houses, a historic photography studio and museum, fudge and sweet shops, dining and more. You can hop on board a DUCK amphibious vehicle or a riverboat for a tour of the Wisconsin River, or take it slower with a dinner cruise. You will want to be sure to walk along the scenic Dells RiverWalk. This restored path pro- vides guests with views to the river not accessible to the public for the last 75 years. The walkway also includes a bicycle route, benches, pic- nic tables and special game tables. Wisconsin Dells has more hotel rooms than any other city in Wisconsin, numbering more than 8,000. More than 2,500 meetings are held annually in Wisconsin Dells, uti- lizing the cities 400,000+ sq. ft. of meeting space. The Kalahari Resort, already the area's largest convention center hotel and four-time Corporate Report "Best of Wisconsin Business" Award winner, opened an indoor theme park last year. The new theme park provides everything a family tagging along on a convention could hope for including a six-story-high Ferris wheel, an African-themed carousel, 24 lanes of bowling, 18 holes of mini golf, a two-level go-cart track, a pair of full-swing golf simula- tors, ropes course, climbing walls and laser tag. These same attractions also provide double-duty for corporate groups in search of unexpected team- building exercises.
