PSYOP COMPLETES EMERALD PROJECT NEW YORK — Moved by color and motion, New York's Psyop (www.psyop.com) recently worked with ad agency McKinney to bring consumers on an epic journey of color exploration through bold and beautiful shades for Sherwin -Williams' spot, Emerald, and the company's Emerald Paint Collection. Under the guidance of director Lauren Indovina, the team looked to fine art for inspiration, drawing from Mark Rothko and Georgia O'Keeffe. It also turned to such iconic sci -fi films as 2001: A Space Odyssey and Interstellar to inspire unique camera shots such as a seamless move through miniature sets. The main tools were a high-speed arm and the Phantom Flex4k. Using 400-gallon tanks, the team injected paint into the water and moved the camera through the tanks with precise choreography. Once in post, the team relied on Nuke to track, stabilize, and retroject the paint to conform to a CG camera move; Houdini to create some particle effect passes to help with the transitions scene to scene; XSI and Arnold for all rendering; and After Effects/Premiere for offline edit and quick slap comps to feed into Nuke for finishing. IKAN'S VL7E DESIGNED FOR ON-CAMERA SET-UPS HOUSTON — Ikan (www. ikancorp. com) has released a new, affordable, on-camera monitor.
