108  /  the tasting panel  /  may 2015 Who's on Tour? ROBERT HILL-SMITH: Yalumba (established 1849) stands as Australia's oldest family- owned winery with vineyards in the Eden and Barossa Valleys. The winery is now under the supervision of fifth-generation winemaker Hill-Smith, who also currently stands as the newly-elected Chairman of Australia's First Families of Wine. BRUCE TYRRELL: Tyrrell's Wines (established 1858) based in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, has an expansive 155-year history of winemaking, starting with land purchased in 1858 that was planted with vines from Busby cuttings. Fifth-generation owner Bruce Tyrrell received an "Order of Australia" medal in 2006 for his contribu- tion to the Australian wine industry. ALISTER PURBRICK: Tahbilk (established 1860) under the leadership of the Purbrick fam- ily since 1925, is known for its Vines Shiraz and for having the largest single holding of the Marsanne variety.
