JANUARY 11, 2001 Called up midfielder Kevin Legg, forward Sheldon Thomas and defender Craig Waibel for the 2000 F.C. Champions' Cup Tournament. Following the tournament all three players were waived. JANUARY 15, 2001 Signed defender Greg Vanney and midfielder Cobi Jones to short-term contracts with MLS, allowing them to play for the Galaxy in the F.C. Champions' Cup. JANUARY 16, 2001 Signed former U.S. National Team defender Alexi Lalas as a Discovery player. Lalas had retired after the 1999 MLS season. FEBRUARY 1, 2001 Re-signed defender Greg Vanney, one of four original members left with the club. FEBRUARY 4, 2001 Traded defender Zak Ibsen to the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for the 16th overall pick in the 2001 MLS SuperDraft.
