FOR MEMBERS SAG Members March to Fight Alzheimer's Alfred Molina and SAG President Ken Howard with the Los Angeles Tri-Union Walk to End Alzheimer's team before the 5-kilometer walk on October 9 S AG members from coast to coast turned out in October and November to raise awareness and more than $22,500 to fight Alzheimer's disease. A national Tri-Union SAG, AFTRA and Actors' Equity team was organized by Nancy Daly, a member whose mother suffers from the disease, to walk in the Alzheimer's Association's Walk to End Alzheimer's. "I knew I had to do something when I went home for the Fourth of July weekend and my mom didn't know me," Daly said. The cause was endorsed unanimously by the SAG National Board in July, which encouraged members to join the team in a show of strength to combat this terrible disease. Walks took place in Los Angeles; New York; Washington, D.C.; and Hollywood, Fla. Daly said she has been overwhelmed by the response from her fellow actors. "They have gone beyond my wildest dreams," Daly said. "But at the same time there's a part of me that isn't the least bit surprised, because this is who we are, we step up, we take care of each other." The 5-kilometer Los Angeles walk, held on October 9, raised more than $10,000. SAG President Ken Howard and Alfred Molina (Harry's Law, Law & Order: LA) expressed their support for the Tri-Union team before the walk began. JOINING FORCES: Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey are appearing in PSAs on behalf of the Inter-Guild Joining Forces Task Force as part of a pledge by the entertainment industry to do more to highlight the sacrifices of military families.
