Syrah can and does grow well in almost every significant viticultural region in the Old and New World, so the Syrah grape certainly deserves part of this credit. Syrah is easy to cultivate, produces an average to above average crop and is naturally expressive of its terroir. It is a vigorous vine with a relatively short ripening period between veraison and harvest. It is also a vine that has the ability to produce interesting characteristics in a wide variety of climates.
