From the Editor T wenty-five years and still counting! I can't believe that so many years have passed since the magazine began. So many changes have occured since 1986, it would take more than a brief overview. It was a joy to look over the 40 past issues representing more than 3.5 million copies that have been printed. Of course, the cir- culation is measured not only in copies distributed but in website visits. Looking back to the "old days" is like comparing the horse and buggy to space travel as the printed publications have changed so drastically. The change in Hollywood has almost been as far reaching. Thanks to commit- ment and perserverence, the subway and for a time, a booming economy, Holly- wood has begun to reclaim the glamour and allure that it's known for. Rena LeBlanc's article provides another take on glamour and a star's longevity and the "afterlife" of celebrity as their possessions go on the auction block. Fall is a time to reflect, and this year has more significance. We remember the heroes and sacrifices that generations of the military have made. Shauna Mc- Clure's article on Hollywood's American Legion Post 43 melds the past and the present, and the challenge of serving a new generation of veterans. Finally, as I looked over the many covers we've created over the past 25 years, I marveled at the collection. Discover Hollywood is a labor of love, created not by one, but by many who have contributed so much to its success. First, I want to thank my publisher (and husband) Oscar Arslanian, for giving me the opportunity to share the Hollywood I love with our readers. Except for one issue, Discover Hollywood has been printed by COP Communications in Glendale; we've gone through many changes together and I'm thankful for their partnership. Three design and produc- tion companies have worked with us and we're grateful that they have truly made us look good—currently The Magazine Factory, and predecessors McMac Publications and, years ago, Design Teal. Photographer Anthony Nelson has translated so many ideas into wonderful cover art. He is a genius for whom I'm enormously grateful. There have been too many writers to mention, but their work makes us a magazine. Lastly, enough can't be said in appreciation of our advertisers. Without them, we are, literally, nothing. Also, we thank the Hollywood Arts Council and our cre- ative community for what they do to enrich our lives; we are your proud partner. I invite you to take a little trip down memory lane and visit our website where each of our covers is on display. Let us know your favorite and register to win a tablet computer. It's been a fabulous 25 years and, like Hollywood, the best is yet to come.
