StorNext Connect makes it easy to install and upgrade StorNext software, see all StorNext resources in a unifi ed view, monitor key performance and usage characteristics, and review detailed information about individual components to speed troubleshooting of perfor- mance bottlenecks. StorNext Pro Workgroup is a new addition to the StorNext Pro Solutions line. StorNext Pro Solutions off er post production and broadcast profession- als fully integrated, easy-to-deploy, high-performance shared storage for refreshing aging Xsan environments, meeting new 4K workfl ow demands and supporting end-to-end content production and archiving. FACILIS AND ARCHIWARE JOIN FORCES FOR TERRABLOCK AND SYNCBLOCK INTEGRATION HUDSON, MA — Shared storage provider Facilis Technology (www.facilis.com) and data management solution developer Archiware (www.archiware.com) announced at the recent IBC show in Amsterdam that they've teamed up to bring Archiware's P5 suite of software to Facilis' TerraBlock Shared Storage and SyncBlock disk and tape-based backup and archive systems. The new- ly-developed integration facilitates an intuitive, fl exible and effi cient end-to- end workfl ow for storage, synchronization, backup and archival. TerraBlock is Facilis' multi-platform, high-capacity shared storage solution that facilitates highly-collaborative workfl ows in post production and content creation environments. Supporting 8/16Gbps Fiber Channel and 1/10Gbps Ethernet through the Facilis Shared File System, TerraBlock delivers advanced performance with industry-standard creative applications. P5 is Archiware's data management solution that enables creative professionals to synchro- nize, backup and archive media in heterogeneous environments. This integra- tion gives users of both Terra- Block and Archi- ware expanded functionality and features. LACIE ROUNDS OUT THUNDERBOLT 2 LINE WITH NEW D2 TIGARD, OR — LaCie (www.lacie.com) has introduced the third generation of its d2 storage product. The all-aluminum d2 Thunderbolt 2 is 10 percent smaller than its predecessor and has a capacity of up to 6TBs. The d2 Thun- derbolt 2 is equipped with two Thunderbolt 2 ports as well as a USB3 port. LaCie began shipping the unit at the end of September, and also plans to off er a USB3-only version at a slightly lower cost this month. The d2 Thunderbolt 2 can be confi gured with 7,200rpm Seagate drives with capacities of 3TBs, 4TBs and 6TBs. The company is also off ering an SSD upgrade kit that allows users to quickly and easily add 128GBs of SSD memory. According to LaCie, the spin- ning disk drives can provide playback speeds of up to 220MB/s, while the SSD off ers professionals up to 1,150MB/s performance. Pricing is: 3TB/$299; 4TB/$399; and 6TB/$499. The SSD option is $299. G-TECHNOLOGY EXTENDS STUDIO LINE OF STORAGE PRODUCTS CULVER CITY, CA — G-Technology (www.g-technology.com) has extended its Studio line of storage solutions with the addition of the G-Speed Studio XL. Expanding on the two–bay G-RAID Studio and four-bay G-Speed Studio Thunderbolt 2 storage solutions, which launched earlier this year, the G-Speed Studio XL holds up to eight removable enterprise-class 7,200rpm hard drives and off ers up to 1,350MB/sec. performance (RAID 0). The Thunderbolt 2-equipped G-Speed Studio XL storage solution comes in a high-quality, black enclosure with integrated cooling technology, and can support 4K workfl ows with user-confi gurable RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. The unit can be dai- sy-chained via dual Thunderbolt 2 ports to boost storage speeds and support demanding multi- stream HD, 2K and compressed 4K workfl ows.
