people NULMAN BARRY NULMAN Hollywood’s Picture Head, an independent provider of post services to the film and televi- sion industries, has named Barry Nulman president. He will oversee operations at the facil- ity in Hollywood and at its sister sound services facility, Audio Head, located on “The Lot” (for- merly Warner Hollywood Studios). Nulman has held senior management positions with several post facilities and technology companies, includ- ing Avid and The Post Group. He is an associate member of ACE and an active member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. DON HALL HALL The Motion Picture Editors Guild (MPEG) will honor veteran sound editor Don Hall,MPSE,with its Fellowship and Service Award on October 15, 2011.The Award was established to recognize an individual who has demonstrated professionalism, collaboration,mentorship, generos- ity of spirit and a commitment to the labor move- ment. Hall’s career as a sound editor spans almost 60 years and includes Emmy and BAFTA nomina- tions, MPSE’s Career Achievement Award and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ John Bonner Medal of Commendation. He also received a Peabody Award for Excellence in Television for his work on the MASH television series. JORDAN STEINKE Bright Technologies, a Reno,NV-based devel- oper of technology for shared media, has hired Jordan Steinke as inside sales specialist, which follows Bright’s recent launch of a new range of software-only, file-based recording products. Steinke started out in business five years ago, having gradu- ated from University of San Francisco with an MA. He’s since held positions in finance, human re- source, project management and sales. SOTO MARIE SOTO In Los Angeles, one-year-old visual effects house Spatial Harmonics Group has named Marie Soto executive producer. She brings an extensive background in visual effects and post, and will manage new business development and sales for the company. Soto’s background includes time with Belief Design, Riot and @radical media. Spatial Harmonics recently provided some visual effects shots for the feature film Green Lantern, di- rected by Martin Campbell. Printed in the U.S.A. 46 Post • July 2011 www.postmagazine.com VAMOSY NORMA TORAYA, CHRIS BIALKOWSKI, COURTNEY FRANSEN Red Car in NYC has signed animation director Norma Toraya, who directs under the name Crankbunny.The studio has also promoted senior designer Chris Bialkowski to creative director and hired a full-time animation and VFX producer Courtney Fransen. Both Crankbunny and Fransen where previously associated with NYC ani- mation house Curious Pictures. Bialkowski has been a senior designer at Red Car for the past four years and will oversee animation and VFX in New York. BIALKOWSKI DAVE SPRAKER Systems integrator Advanced Broadcast Solutions in Seatac, WA, has hired Dave Spraker as account executive. He will be based out of Beaverton, OR, and will provide customer support throughout that state. Spraker has more than 20 years of industry experience. He worked for KGW-TV in Portland as a senior writer, promo producer,Avid editor and supervisor. SPRAKER RON HARRIS Video and film post facility DuArt in New York City has named Ron Harris as VP of production and sales. He joins the company with nearly three decades of experience in local, national and interna- tional sales and development for facilities in Man- hattan. Harris was most recently VP of sales and marketing at Broadway Video. He also held execu- tive sales positions with National Video Center, Rhi- noceros, Image Group Post and LA Digital Post. At DuArt, he will lead the company’s expansion into broadcast video and will be responsible for attract- ing clientele to the company’s expanding edit room and production space rental business. MICHAEL VAMOSY Michael Vamosy, most recently SVP, design for Fox Broadcasting, will now lead the team at Buster Ink, a new division of visual design stu- dio Buster. In addition to building the new print division,Vamosy will act as an executive creative director for Buster on various motion graphics projects.Vamosy joined Fox in 2007 from FX, where he was VP of design for five years. While there, he was responsible for the development of FX’s in-house design team, StudioFX.
