Hilton Americas-Houston recently announced the appointment of Bonita Bevel as assistant director of catering, adding to the already impressive direc- tor staff of Houston’s largest hotel. Bevel previously was senior catering manager at the property for the past two years. She was promoted to the senior manager position from her prior post as catering manager, a job she had held since the opening of the hotel in 2003. With 23 years expe- rience in the hotel and hospitality industry, Bevel has also held positions as catering director for first Bay Oaks Country Club and then Pecan Grove Plantation Country Club, totally 8 years experience as a director. Before joining the Hilton Americas- Houston, Bevel held the position of catering director at the Doubletree Allen Center. Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) President and CEO William D. Talbert, III, CDMEis pleased to announce the pro- motion of RolandoAedo to executive vice president-chief marketing officer of the GMCVB. “Rolando’s extensive destination marketing experience and extraordinary commitment to commu- nity has servedGreaterMiami and the Beaches exceedingly well,” Talbert said. “He has successfully led theGMCVB’smarketing efforts to increase excitement and demand for theMiami brand worldwide during very challeng- ing times.” Aedo joined the Bureau in 1994 to head up the GMCVB marketing programs to assist in the recovery of tourism in the areas of the community affected byHurricaneAndrew. TheAustin Convention andVisitors Bureau (Austin CVB) recently announced the addition of Ms. Keva Washington as executive meetings manager. In this role,Washington sells Austin as a premier meeting and con- vention destination among small and medium-sized groups based in Texas and on theWest Coast. Most recently, Washington worked at the Grady Cole Center/Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as an operations assistant and handled logistics pertaining to special events. Previously, Washington was a sales manager with the Columbia, South Carolina Regional Sports Council and a Convention Services Coordinator with the ColumbiaMetropolitan CVB. A true passion and impressive records are the highlights of the expe- rience Senior Sales Manager LaChelle Evans brings to the ongoing success of the Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau. Evans,who has been with the CVB for five years, was recently been pro- moted to the newly created role of sen- ior sales manager. She has an extensive background of nearly two decades in the hotel and CVB industry. In her new position, she will lead efforts to develop new business, supervise sales personnel, provide training opportunities to marketing partners and assist the executive director with various duties. According to Evans, she is “ready to take full advantage of the potential that lies ahead.” Hilton New York is pleased to wel- come Dina Hill to her new position as senior catering manager. A seasoned hospitality professionalwithmore than 15 years of experience in the industry, Hill brings an extensive managerial background in social catering, guest services and convention planning,most recently serving as conference plan- ning manager at Trump International Hotel&Tower in Chicago. In her new role,Hill will manage banqueting and catering for social and corporate events, including fundraisers, galas, weddings, business meetings and conferences, and VIP activi- ties.Working directlywith newbusiness, shewill host site visits, develop event menus, determine seating and décor selections, photography and videography options andmore. Visit Winston-Salem recently announced Timothy Simmons as the new national sales manager responsi- ble for booking conventions with a focus on national and regional mar- kets. Simmons brings more than 17 years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry to Visit Winston- Salem, including 12 years as southeast regional sales and marketing manager for Grandover Resort in Greensboro. Simmons will represent the destination at national and regional trade shows and will join a sales force responsible for increasing hotel room nights and revenue for Winston-Salem. In addition, Simmons is expected to generate leads for hotels, attractions and other meeting venues in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County.
