2014 V o t e 4 S ch o o l s v o t e c o m AEA Advocate x Fall 2014 19 2014 Arizona Primary Election 2014 V o t e 4 S ch o o l s v o t e 4 s c h o o l s a z. c o m Primary Elections Matter This past legislative session, AEA was able to gain a number of victories and stop numerous bad legislation from passing. These victories were mostly due to past election victories in key swing districts that resulted in a coalition of moderate Republican legislators who bravely stood up for what's right and voted with the Democrats to stop bills targeting teachers and public schools. Read more about these victories on page 6. Most of the battle for legislative seats is already over by September and that's because there are only a few competitive districts that are decided in the General Election. The real victories happen on August 26 on Arizona's Primary Election Day. That's why voting in Primary Elections matter and can make the difference between having a moderate candidate in office as opposed to an extremist with an agenda to dismantle public education. AEA encourages members to view our recommended candidate list on the next page and vote for them in the Primary Election. The AEA Fund for Public Education and local association leaders have interviewed these candidates, reviewed voting records, and recommended candidates who support public education and the people who work in our public schools. The AEA Fund's candidate recommendations include Republicans, Democrats, and an Independent based on their positions and actions regarding public education policy.
