(www. sonnettech.com), which offers storage sys- tems, Thunderbolt technology PCIe expansion products, interface cards, and media readers, has its Echo Express family of PCI Express expansion products at this year's NAB show in Las Vegas. The Echo Express systems facilitate mobile and on-location workflows by enabling any Mac computer equipped with Thunderbolt 2 or Thunderbolt ports to interface with a wide variety of high-performance PCIe cards origi- nally designed only for use in desktop computers. Sonnet's Echo Express III-D desktop and Echo Express III-R rackmount Thunderbolt 2-to- PCIe expansion chassis are among the first of their kind to ship with 20Gb/sec Thunderbolt 2 interfaces. Avid certified, these products feature three PCIe slots, a 300-watt power supply, and a 75-watt auxiliary power connector. Both sys- tems enable the use of a wide variety of high- performance PCIe cards with any Mac with a Thunderbolt port. Both chassis support up to three full-length, full-height, single-width PCIe 2.0 cards with one x16 and two x8 PCIe slots. The Echo Express III-D is well-suited for use in most workflows and small enough to fit in many travel bags. The Echo Express III-R mounts in a 2U-tall (3.5-inch) rack space and its enclosure is just 16 inches deep, making it well suited for use in a wide range of mobile racks, carts, cases and server rooms. The Sonnet chassis supports every Thunderbolt-compatible PCIe card avail- able, including those from Avid, AJA, Black- magic Design, Bluefish444, Matrox, and Red Digital Cinema. The SAS-connected 2U disk storage chassis gives users the freedom to configure the DX to meet their initial storage needs, while hav- ing the ability to add more SAS storage later. The system is compatible with Windows, Unix, Linux, Mac OSX, and VMWare, and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6 50, and 60.
