NGP developers can now use Wwise M ONTREAL — Audiokinetic (www.audiokinetic.com), a cross-plat- form audio solution provider for the videogame industry, is sup- porting Sony’s next-generation portable gaming system. Sony’s NGP will be the first portable entertainment system supported by Audiokinetic’s Wwise, which integrates a complete audio authoring tool with a powerful sound engine, making it useful audio development solution for both sound designers and audio programmers. Wwise offers a streamlined workflow and supports all phases of audio de- velopment, from the creation of audio structures to mixing and monitoring of audio performances in realtime on the NGP system. Users benefit from a sta- ble audio solution. “Right from the start we were very impressed with the capabilities of the new system,” says Simon Ashby,VP of product strategy at Audiokinetic.“We felt that offering Wwise would help developers create the best interactive experi- ence possible while facilitating the development process on this new platform.” Can’t Live Without “The one gadget that I can’t live without is the Apple iPhone — sim- ply because it has made work and play far more efficient and fun. “For work, I stay on top of client emails and get back to them right away, check FTP uploads and downloads, and have video files of commercials and animation jobs I’ve worked on at my fingertips. “For play, I have an assortment of photography and audio record- ing apps, and the ability to share them with friends and family in- stantly. It’s hard to believe it wasn’t too long ago that all this was a chore to do on a laptop you had to lug around. Now, you have it in your pocket.Awesome!” Lou Esposito Big Yellow Duck New York City www.postmagazine.com March 2011 • Post 7
