Te apps allow even greater access to SAG.org. Once installed, they boost the capability of producers visiting SAGIndie.org and fans checking out SAGAwards.org, too. •••••Continuing to Adopt and Adapt As the Guild continues to adapt to meet members’ lifestyles, it welcomes your direct thoughts for improvements. SAG TV video Hot News “We oſten refer to it as ‘pushing out’ a message, but it’s really a two-way communication these days,” said Greenwalt. “In fact, we’ve gotten some of our best suggestions from actors simply leaving their thoughts in a comment thread.” She would like the Guild to continue to be an early adopter of new technology and new approaches to using it. Greenwalt herself was a panelist in a recent Bulldog Reporter conversation about pitching news and feature stories to the media using Twitter. NED White sees the “more bang for the buck” approach of digital communication as just the beginning. “Te efficiency of digital communication not only saves money as SAG members and our industry partners proactively adopt these new ways to receive communication,” he said, “but it also serves our stakeholders with its immediacy and accessibility, making the business of showbusiness that much easier and improving our relationships throughout the industry.” Facebook, Twitter, RSS feed, iPhone app Just a few of the features available at SAG.org “We’re particularly proud of our ‘Hot News’ feature, which is an aggregate for our press releases, member alerts, event notices and SAG TV video,” said Greenwalt. “Te top information you need will always be found there as soon as you open the homepage and most of these stories are sent to our RSS feed and can ultimately be read by our iPhone App or Google Reader.” Of course, none of the Guild’s digital communications capabilities would be possible without the National Website Subcommittee and SAG Information Technology Department, which supports SAG.org. Website Subcommittee Chair Kevin Scullin reports site traffic has grown by 25 percent in the last year, with more than 9,000 daily visitors to SAG.org. Te jump in visitors is due, in part, to the Guild’s increased social media presence and enhancements to the website. “We’re very proud of the direction we’re taking with SAG.org,” Scullin said. “And it’s just the beginning of the Website Subcommittee’s effort to further enhance our Web communications and better assist members in their careers.” Several of those enhancements, intended specifically for producers, agents and other industry partners, will be rolling out in the coming months as part of National Executive Director David White’s strategic operational improvement program. From the recently launched online Producers’ Center to added video capability and a much-improved online video library, White’s program has already added new life and immediacy to SAG’s Web-based communications and service platforms.
