people Ferrell BARNES Barry Ferrell Costa Mesa, CA's QSC Audio Products, LLC, has promoted Barry Ferrell to senior VP and chief strategy officer. Ferrell began his career at the company in 1990 as an applications engineer and was the first technical hire at the company in the sales and marketing department. In 2009, he assumed the leadership role of the cinema group at QSC, and was promoted to VP of cinema in 2012. Over his 23-year career at QSC, Ferrell has served as the product manager for every cinema product developed at the company, including DCA amplifiers, DCM crossover/monitors, DCS loudspeakers, and the DCP line of digital cinema processors. JEFF BARNES Bent Image Lab in Portland, OR, has brought in VFX executive Jeff Barnes to oversee the company's new digital media group. Barnes is a co-founder of CafeFX, The Syndicate and past Digital Domain VP. He will now work with the Bent team to develop creative messaging for alternative medium portals such as cell phones, tablets, touch screens and special venue experiences, implementing AR, pixel mapping and other new technologies. Haynes was a founder of the New York office in 2007 and has since led VFX and motion graphics on an array of projects, including Coldplay's "Atlas," from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, and Guinness's Basketball spot. Stephano was promoted from senior producer, and brings a wide breadth of experience across VFX and design. Her recent credits include John Legend's Made to Love video. In addition to providing mixing services, O'Connell also assumes a creative leadership role. A 20-time Academy Award nominee, O'Connell is based at ToddAO's facility at the Lantana Center in Santa Monica. His new position combines his role as re-recording mixer with a senior-level creative post, providing oversight on issues related to feature film business development, client services, creative talent and strategic initiatives. Brad Turner NYC-based creative editorial studio Post Millennium has added editor Brad Turner to its roster. Turner's credits include work on spots for Intel, Microsoft, Sony, Amazon's Kindle, Fidelity, Adidas and HBO's Game of Thrones. The move marks a return to the company, which he first joined in 2002, shortly after graduating from Columbia University. He left in 2009 to pursue a variety of freelance opportunities, including work with Imaginary Forces, Eyeball and The Mill. Turner PHAEDRA PARDUE Sohonet has appointed Phaedra Pardue sales executive for North America. She will work to expand Sohonet's footprint, particularly across the Western US. Pardue has worked in the data industry for over 15 years. Her career started in front of the camera as a spokesperson for many JOHN X. CAREY LA-based director of branded documentaries and commercials, John X. Carey, has signed with Tool. Carey recently directed the popular YouTube spot for Dove, titled Real Beauty Sketches. He has a knack for creating powerful character stories with a human-interest. His credits also include work for Google and Goodwill. ERIC ECKSTEIN Audio engineer and One Union co-founder Eric Eckstein has returned to the workforce as an associate engineer at Studio Trilogy in San Francisco.
