LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2026 • 27 "It was great to meet Kevin Spring. I was originally supposed to go to New Zealand to make sure that the locations chosen were a match for Hawaii, so I was worried about how it would go. I need not have worried, Kevin did a great job for the New Zealand portion of the show." –Timmy Chinn, nominee, Chief of War (Hawaii) "As for what stood out at the after-party, it was definitely the food, especially the sushi! That solar trailer platform really caught my eye. Another huge highlight was reconnecting with people who have come to Hawaii to work over the years. Laura Sode-Matteson was the biggest mentor for both Timmy Chinn and me. Seeing her there with the Hawaii Film Commission was incredibly special." –Pono Guerrero, nominee, Chief of War (Hawaii) "We were honored to be nominated. Getting to know about locations from other parts of the world and exchanging views and contacts promotes better understanding of culture, landscapes and people of all backgrounds which will give more options to create scripts and creative stories." –Razaq Sahibjahn, nominee, Lord of the Flies (Malaysia) L-R: Pono Guerrero/LMGI, Joe Abel/LMGI, Kevin Spring, Timmy Chinn, Chief of War "LMGI understands the work and collaboration it takes to find the perfect location, get the production there, and keep it there. We congratulate AFCI on the milestone. Being a finalist for Train Dreams meant a great deal to our office. Washington landscapes carried a lot of the storytelling in that film! Congratulations to Humboldt-Del Norte on their win!" –Amy Lillard, Executive Director, nominee, Train Dreams, Washington Filmworks/LMGI "Having our work acknowledged on an international stage encourages people to look more closely at the cinema we are making in Brazil and at the creative and production work that makes these films possible. We are very grateful to the LMGI for creating this international space of recognition and for bringing productions from different parts of the world into the conversation." –Mariana Jacob, nominee, The Secret Agent (Brazil) Amy Lillard, Washington Filmworks L-R: Guy Sahibjahn, Razaq Sahibjahn, Mann Aduka, Lord of the Flies
