a world. At the same time, modern filmmaking increasingly relies on digital tools to create things that simply can't exist in reality. As a storyteller, where do you draw the line between practical craftsmanship and digital effects? APRIL BLAIR: Only really on fantasy shows. In The Shannara Chronicles, when we have characters being attacked by winged demons. those kinds of things open up possibilities. But I'm still on the fence. PROP CULTURE: Let's end on something a little lighter. If you could own one famous screen-used prop, what would it be? APRIL BLAIR: (laughs) I want to say something cool, like the ring from The Lord of the Rings. But honestly ... I'm obsessed RANSOM CANYON SCANDAL WINGED DEMON IN THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES with the giant wine glass from Scandal. Kerry Washington solves another crisis, sits down, and pours herself this enormous glass of wine. I've actually referenced it in scripts. I'll write, "A Scandal-sized glass of red wine." I love that it's become a recurring prop that nobody ever acknowledges. It's just something she does. It's almost like Mr. Rogers putting on his sweater. She solves the crisis. She pours the wine. I love that glass. PROP CULTURE: April, thank you. It was a pleasure working with you and thank you for taking the time to share your process with Prop Culture. APRIL BLAIR: Thank you.
