LOCAL706.ORG • 41 I hired "the Make-up Designers" to create custom scars and various other wounds for cast and the "go-to artist" in Mexico City for prosthetic effects ,Karina Rodriguez. During production, due to the high altitude of Mexico City, along with temperature changes in transit, we had to recast and sculpt many of the pieces in Karina's Mexico City shop. Corey Bakon, a Boston-based barber/hair stylist, whom I worked previously with on Tron: Ares, came along with me from the USA. After our work on Tron, I felt he would be a great addition to the team. Nick Castellanos, a longtime personal barber for our leading man Yahya Adbul Mateen. I had the pleasure of working with Nick before on Ambulance (2022), shot entirely in L.A. Nick said, "I balanced a textured hair style for Yahya, who worked every day. Donald's hands-on leadership unified the hair make-up prosthetics into one cohesive, very happy team." It didn't take long for the team to gel and understand each other. Karla is flawlessly bilingual, and Nick is Spanish speaking from L.A. For all the differences we had in cultures and background, we shared the similarity in loving what we do. I found our collective sense of humor was in sync and transcended any borders. Karla and Farfan are two of the most prepared people I have encountered in a long time. I found everyone on the team completely open to creative collaboration, suggestions, and shared the goal of creating a successful production. This was evident in the high ratings out of the United States and around the world. We created contemporary looks for both Mexico and Brazil, with a focus on global appeal to complement our cast made up of actors from the USA, UK, Mexico, and Brazil. I was determined to give this TV adaptation a Ismael Caneppele as Osmar L to R: Bruno Suzano as Beto, Daniel Xavier as Bacca, Iago Xavier as Vico, Reinaldo Junior as Duda, and Alice Braga as Valeria Melo
