BY TIMOTHY MUIRHEAD MPSE & TERESA MORROW MPSE n March 5, the Motion Picture Sound Editors sponsored the 4th Annual Tonebenders Los Angeles Sound Design Meet Up. This was the third time the MPSE joined the Tonebenders Sound Design Podcast to host this totally free-to-attend event in LA. What started in 2023 with 70 people, building to 120 guests in 2024, grew again in 2025 to 250 attendees. There's an undeniable interest in the sound community for in- person informal gatherings. The venue moved this year from Studio City over to Hollywood, at All Season Brewing, where the venue quickly filled up with sound editors, re-recording mixers, Foley artists, and more. Anyone and everyone working in audio post production, game audio or field and production recording were welcome. It turns out that the move to this larger location was warranted, as participation in 2026 ballooned up to more than 330 attendees. Among the guests, the levels of experience in the industry ranged from recent graduates to longtime industry veterans and even included some of this year's Oscar nominees in the Best Sound category, in town prior to the following weekend's ceremony. Everyone was eager to meet and talk and share stories of their current and past successes and challenges.
