DeMarr Davis Becomes Doorman
In the standalone episode 4, "Doorman," we go back in
time and meet Hollywood nightclub doorman DeMarr
Davis (Byron Bowers). After being exposed to a chemical
goo leaking from a Roxxon Laboratories dumpster, DeMarr
becomes Doorman, gaining the ability to teleport people and
objects through solid walls by using his body as a portal.
From my experience, being a good and successful storyboard
artist is understanding what is being asked of you for each
particular job. It's important to know when your input is
welcome, when you have more creative freedom and just as
critical—knowing when to simply draw what is asked. The
director and DP knew the exact shots they wanted for this
sequence, so it was on me to convey them accurately in the
boards. One of those shots in this sequence is the iconic Spike
Lee double dolly, where the character appears to be floating
through the frame, separate from the background.
