ambition and joined the adventure without hesitation. A set decoration team who went the extra mile every single day in pursuit of the perfect "whatever"—from the clearest jelly to suspend a lipsticked fish to the exact color of red fur destined for beneath the white staircase. An impressive property department kept pace with constant redresses—shifting environments at speed from dry dust-laden sets to mud baths the next. And then there was the model-making team, who I was quietly jealous of as they seemed to have the greatest license for fun—building 10-foot-high bottle mountains or dangling corpses in various states of heightened emotion. The graphics team was no less inventive—from designing the ground-level map painted directly on the high-gloss wooden floor in the Grange hallway to the wonderfully unhinged banners that appear in the opening of the film. Taking on a story as well known as Wuthering Heights, both the novel and its many previous adaptations, inevitably comes with a weight of expectation. We all carry our own private versions of these worlds, built subconsciously as we read or listen, long before a filmmaker gets anywhere near them. This project made me acutely aware of how rare it is to take those imagined spaces and give them physical form—to test them and distort them and then ultimately invite others inside. I feel enormously fortunate to have done that here, alongside a group of collaborators who were willing to embrace the scale and ambition this project asked of us. We didn't set out to illustrate a classic. We brought a different lens to a powerful story—one the audience could inhabit rather than simply observe. For a Production Designer, it doesn't get much better than that. ADG F. & G. HANGING BANNERS. SET PHOTOS. H. CATHY'S BEDROOM. PRODUCTION STILL.
