well as categories for half-hour and multi-camera series, television movie or limited series, variety or reality series, variety specials, and two categories for shorter work, commercial design and short format and music videos. A major element of the ceremony is the recognition of the sustained contributions of individual members with the Lifetime Achievement Award, given out by each of the four ADG councils. Set Designer Jann Engel was recognized for her career accomplishments, including Alice Through the Looking Glass, A Series of Unfortunate Events and Mars Attacks! Production Designer Bo Welch was recognized by the Art Directors Council for his body of work, including Beetlejuice, A Little Princess and Men in Black. Storyboard Artist Tom Southwell was acknowledged for his work on shows like The Muppet Movie, Disturbia and Blade Runner. And Scenic Artist Stephen McNally was presented with a Lifetime Award for his work on shows such as Anna and the King, What Dreams May Come and for his long career with the San Francisco Opera. The production opened with an introduction by ADG President Dina Lipton and show producer Michael Allen Glover marking this 30th presentation by noting that the show has a history of handing out 270 awards and recognizing over 1,300 nominees for outstanding achievements in design. In addition to the design and Lifetime Awards, the Guild also recognizes achievements by individuals outside the crafts who have had a major impact on the artform. This year that took the form of the Cinematic Imagery Award, given to director and producer Jon M. Chu, and the first-ever President's Award, given to Congresswoman Laura Friedman. The ceremony also recognizes new inductees into the ADG Hall of Fame. This posthumous honor is given to legendary Production Designers and Art Directors whose work continues to inspire and influence later generations of designers and storytellers.
