What she wants to do and I suspect she's always wanted to do was help people HEAR clearer. Beyond her greatness as a sound editor for film & TV, she wants us to listen better, hear better in our everyday lives. She is a great communicator - I know this because I've been on the Academy Board with her and learned that SHE is one to listen to when she speaks. She is an amazing artist, woman, Black woman and we are all lucky to know her, and thank you all for recognizing this with Local 700's Fellowship & Service Award. She is one of the greats. WALT NEWMAN S O U N D E D I T O R First of all, congrats on the Fellowship and Service Award. It's well deserved. We all know how much you've done for inclusion in the Motion Picture industry. I've known Bobbi for over 30 years. Back in the 80's and 90's we worked on many features together. While she worked on various projects at different studios, I somehow stayed at Warner Bros my entire career (45 years) but we've always kept in contact. Then a couple years ago we came full circle and did the Apple mini-series "The Big Cigar' the story of Black Panther Huey Newton. Now, knowing Bobbi for over 30 which in itself, says a lot, we managed to stay friends which is close to impossible in this business. She has a unique approach and sense of humor and the ability to tell it like it is (whether you asked or not). You pretty much always know where you stand with Bobbi . Beneath the sharp wit is someone who's dedicated to the work and will do anything to make it better. Highly knowledgeable, committed and a consistency that you could always count on. One again CONGRATS!!!! Your friend as you would say, WAAAAALTER Newman DAVID BOULTON S O U N D M I X E R I've had the pleasure of knowing and collaborating with Bobbi for over 40 years, since we both started at Sound One Corporation in the legendary Brill Building in New York City. A few years later, she relocated to Los Angeles and became an ADR editor. Since then, we've worked together on many projects over the years. The last time I saw her was at the 2019 Emmy Awards. Bobbi is one of the top ADR editors in the industry—an admirable talent with a gift for engaging with actors and directors to bring out their very best performances. Her professionalism, warmth, and sense of humor make her a joy to be around. Congratulations on this well-deserved "Fellowship & Service Award. I am truly honored to know you and to have worked alongside you throughout the years". Sincerely, David Boulton TYRESE GIBSON A C T O R Dearly beloved mama, Bobbi Banks, What I know about movies, voiceover, ADR work all started with you—beautiful soul, a part of the John Singleton tribe and fraternity. I love you dearly. You have always been a mentor, a consistent loyal friend, and a motherly figure who has mentored me, guided me, and given me a greater understanding of the business every time we talked and exchanged. Every session I walk into knowing that you are conducting the ADR session, you've always created a safe and beautiful environment and challenged me in every session. So grateful to know you, and congratulations on the well-deserved honor! Banks Notes
