102 SAG-AFTRA | Fall/Winter 2025 | sagaftra.org SAG-AFTRA member Chelsea Schwartz enjoys creating content that celebrates the vast history of the stage and screen. @ A COMMITTEE COMMITTED TO DIGITAL CREATORS SAG-AFTRA member Patrick Janelle leads the newly-created National Influencer and Digital Creator Committee. CHELSEA SCHWARTZ PATRICK JANELLE 102 SAG-AFTRA | Fall/Winter 2025 | sagaftra.org I n April, SAG-AFTRA's National Board voted to establish the National Influencer and Digital Creator Committee, chaired by Patrick Janelle. Among other things, the committee focuses on issues related to influencers and creators. It will provide guidance, insight and industry expertise to help the union continue evolving its support for creators, ensuring that the union's resources, protections and advocacy efforts are relevant and aligned with the needs of this community. "Our first steps will be to gather insight from across the industry so that this committee can address specific needs and issues represented by a diverse creator community," said the New York-based Janelle, who has worked as a full-time travel and lifestyle influencer for over a decade. "Together — with our collective experiences and unique perspectives — we will build tangible tools, provide resources and develop industry standards, creating meaningful support for creators who are at various stages in their careers. Our committee will include creators at every level, within every vertical and on every platform." Populated with members actively engaged in digital creator work, the committee will inform the union's efforts to assist creators in achieving stable, safe and sustainable careers. Chelsea Schwartz, a SAG-AFTRA member who creates content around pop culture, acknowledges that the ever-changing platforms and algorithms can be a source of stress. "I try to focus on creating content that brings me joy instead of worrying about the numbers," Schwartz says. "If you're making what you love, the rest is just a bonus." Spending time on what you enjoy is key for Peter Sing, a SAG-AFTRA member who has amassed over 1.1 million followers on TikTok. "People who fall in love with the creation process rather than the success or the metrics will have an easier time and much more longevity," he says. ● Creators continues from page 90 INSPIRED YET?
