28 SAG-AFTRA | Fall/Winter 2025 | sagaftra.org For Members T ime magazine has named SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland to the 2025 Time100 A.I., a list recognizing the 100 most influential people in artificial intelligence. To assemble the list, Time's editors and reporters examined the key stories in A.I. over the past year and consulted with expert sources and industry leaders for recommendations. Under Crabtree-Ireland's leadership, SAG-AFTRA has taken a leading role in ensuring that A.I. innovation develops responsibly, with strong protections for creative professionals. He has worked with policymakers, technology companies and industry leaders to embed A.I. safeguards into collective bargaining agreements, shape legislation and establish standards for ethical usage of A.I., both domestically and internationally. The announcement to SAG-AFTRA members was made on Aug. 28 via a message from then-SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher, who congratulated Crabtree- Ireland for his achievement, noting it as a "big win" for the union and its members. "With Duncan's leadership, SAG-AFTRA is blazing the A.I. public policy and workers' rights trail," said Drescher. "Thanks to the tireless efforts from Duncan and other SAG-AFTRA members and leaders, we've secured groundbreaking protections in our contracts, partnered with legislators and tech leaders, and made sure the voices and images of our members cannot be exploited by unchecked technology. This honor from Time shines a spotlight on the powerful work our union is doing to ensure technology moves with us — not over us." The Time100 A.I. list was first established in 2023, and the 2025 list marks its third edition. The full list appeared in Time's Sept. 8 issue and is available online at time.com/time100ai. The dynamic duo were the presenters for the Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series category and marked their time onstage by highlighting the union's upholding of what they called "The Three T's" — "tenacity, technology and togetherness." It was a reminder of SAG-AFTRA's commitment to the daytime television community. "We want to make sure humans are always prioritized in this changing world, so audiences can continue to enjoy the performers they know and love," said Powell. Added Long, "Because working together makes us stronger. SAG-AFTRA is proud to play a role in improving the lives, the vitality and future of this community." The day prior, both attended the Emmys' Gold and Silver Circle Awards reception, which is held separately to honor performers who have had distinguished careers within the television industry for 50 or 25 years.
