I spoke with several production and post-production CAS members from around the world to get a feel for how this influx of outside money and processes was influencing their personal work experience and the creative community in the countries they were working. Viktor Prasil CAS, production sound mixer in the Czech Republic; Igor Vujovic CAS, sound editor and re-recording mixer in Montenegro; Joana Niza Braga CAS, Foley mixer, sound editor, and re-recording mixer in Portugal; Nick Emond CAS, production sound mixer in Australia; and Craig Berkey CAS; post supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer in British Columbia, Canada, were all kind enough to lend their expertise and unique experiences for this article. While there is certainly a boom in current productions, Viktor Prasil pointed out that "international productions have been shooting here since the late '90s and early 2000's when feature filmmakers and studios discovered it was a place with a wide array of beautiful locations, plus they could keep their budgets lower with incentives and lower worker cost. So, the international move has been ongoing." The first big international project for Viktor, an Academy Award and CAS Award nominee, was for Craig Berkey CAS, post supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer in British Columbia, Canada. Going International Joana Niza Braga CAS, Foley mixer, sound editor, and re-recording mixer in Portugal
