Elphaba's Sanctuary/Nest Initially, Elphaba's sanctuary was a hidden grotto, a place for her to escape the Wizard. But once she discovered her power to fly, a better, more meaningful refuge was needed. She built a nest high up in the ancient Ozian forest. This elevated nest, tucked away in the sprawling canopy of the forest's oldest tree, serves as both a physical and symbolic sanctuary. It highlights her connection to nature, transforming her home from a simple hideout into a symbol of her freedom. The towering height and dense leaves of the mother tree make it an impenetrable shield against intruders while also offering a perfect vantage point. From here, she can watch the world below without being seen. The nest is more than a dwelling; it's a key part of her character, representing her deep connection to the wild, untamed land. Weaving the Nest: An Oz-Inspired Romantic Interior The goal for the "Weaving the Nest" project was to create a truly romantic space, and the greens department did an incredible job. They wove branches together to make a dramatic, tornado-like.sculpture. It was a nod to both the land of Oz and Elphaba's powerful magic. To get some light in there, the construction crew built giant, see-through leaves that acted as a natural skylight. And for the bed, they made it look like it was growing right out of the central tree, which was the main focus of the whole design.
