LOCAL706.ORG • 15 CRAFT EDUCATION The inaugural Hair Craft Education Class marked a major milestone: the first event under my leadership and Regina Rodriguez as Secretary. Together, we aimed to create something fresh, inspiring, and truly useful for hair stylists, an experience blending artistry, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Our goal was simple: to bring together brands, educators, and tools that stylists could immediately apply, on set, in the salon, and throughout their careers. We're proud of how the day unfolded and even more excited about what's ahead. Here's a recap of the key highlights from our first class, where education met artistry and inspiration met innovation. Boldify: On-Set Hair Perfection in Seconds A clear crowd favorite, Boldify, demonstrated its mess-free hairline powder and hair fibers, already a staple for many on-set stylists. These fast, transfer-resistant products deliver instant volume, fill thinning areas, and create definition without staining clothes or costumes. Perfect for set work, quick color touch-ups, or postpartum regrowth, the products impressed attendees with their ease and versatility. Stylists also loved their ability to add subtle highlights or depth without long-term color commitments. In a fast-paced industry where touch-ups need to be flawless and fast, Boldify provided exactly what stylists crave: tools that work under pressure. Salon Interactive: Turning Stylists Into Shop Owners Next, we explored digital entrepreneurship with Salon Interactive, a platform that helps stylists create custom online stores. Stylists can recommend favorite products to clients and earn a commission every time a purchase is made without handling inventory. This model not only reinforces client loyalty but also provides passive income, extending revenue potential far beyond the salon chair. Fully customizable and easy to use, it empowers stylists to stay authentic to the brands they believe in while building a sustainable business. In a digital-first world, Salon Interactive is a powerful business tool every stylist should know. Janice McCafferty: The PR Blueprint for Stylists Award-winning publicist Janice McCafferty, known for working with top hair care brands, delivered a masterclass on securing product sponsorships and navigating public relations as a stylist. Her biggest takeaway? Professional, personalized outreach is key. "Let them know who you are, what position you hold, and what kind of project you're involved in," Janice advised. "Send a professional email that shows you've done your homework. Make it easy for them to say yes." She emphasized providing clear information about the project—film, editorial, or runway—and following up with behind-the-scenes photos of the products in action. Social media also plays a role in building brand relationships. Simple post tagging the company can lead to long-term partnerships. Janice's advice gave stylists a clear and actionable path to building strong industry connections. Hairpins by Damian: Reinventing a Classic Tool Celebrity stylist and inventor Damian introduced Hairpins by Damian, elegantly reengineered pins designed for both functionality and beauty. Crafted with a stylist's needs in mind, the pins offer strong hold, easy removal, and compatibility with multiple textures and styles. Attendees praised their durability and versatility, calling them a new essential for both everyday salon work and red carpet styling. Sometimes it's the smallest innovations that make the biggest difference, and Damian proved that with a fresh take on a classic tool. Primabiotic: Collagen for Healthy Hair from Within Primabiotic shifted the focus to internal wellness, emphasizing the role collagen supplements play in promoting healthy hair, skin, and nails. Consistent collagen intake has been linked to stronger, denser hair, particularly helpful for clients recovering from stress-related or hormonal hair loss. Whether preparing talent for HD filming or helping clients maintain vibrant strands, stylists left with a new appreciation for the link between health and beauty. Primabiotic's message resonated with stylists committed to holistic care: what happens inside the body shows up in the hair. Hollywood ManeStays: Invisible Hold, Maximum Impact One of the most exciting product debuts came from Local 706 member Nicki Chestnut, who introduced her new company, Hollywood ManeStays, a Innovation, Education & Empowerment by CIARA ADISE BANGLE Hair Craft Education President revolutionary way to secure hair for film, TV, and special events. Unlike traditional pins or combs, ManeStays anchors hair along the entire strand, not just the root. It offers secure yet flexible hold, making them ideal for intricate styles that need to move naturally under lights and cameras. Available in various colors and shapes, these tools blend seamlessly with all hair types and tones. Stylists especially appreciated their versatility for period pieces, fantasy styles, and bridal looks. Hollywood ManeStays is a game-changing addition to any kit that requires invisible structure and long-lasting hold. CHI Air Glam: The Future of Heat Styling To close the event with a high-tech flourish, CHI unveiled its latest innovation, the Air Glam styling tool. Lightweight, ergonomic, and powerful, the Air Glam impressed with its ability to create smooth, voluminous styles quickly and with less heat damage. From sleek straight styles to soft waves, the tool performed flawlessly across all demos. Stylists loved its fast heat-up time and user-friendly design, calling it an instant favorite for both set work and salon transformations. This isn't just another hot tool; it's a multi-use powerhouse designed with modern professionals in mind. Conclusion: More Than a Class, a New Standard in Education This wasn't just a seminar; it was a celebration of creativity, innovation, and professional growth in the hair industry. The day empowered stylists with new skills, business tools, and inspiration. Whether working on set, backstage, or behind the chair, attendees walked away energized and equipped for the future.
