26 WINTER 2026 the work I've done, like bale scenes and post-apocalyptic films, even some of the superhero stuff, that stuff informs you, so you understand what rust looks like as it seeps down and bleeds through a fabric, as opposed to being spaered on. SUPERMAN LS: I did prototypes with the shoulders set in. We started testing from leather to EVA foam to neoprene. We started creating all those shapes and there was quite a bit going on and the paern kept changing. Then we were building those shoulders from underneath. I would create the shoulder, and then it would set it in. We did the shoulders like a gauntlet, a kind of shape that got sewn into the suit as well as his knees, and then the "S." And the "S" was the fun one for me. I mean, now I can say it was fun. I hadn't really set into doing that, because when they asked me to make the "S," I was told it was just to fill in the negative space while a nonunion shop made an amazing "S." I made one; I ended up making it out of EVA foam and shaping it on a bust made for me. I started playing with foam, the back was first, it was coutil, and then it was like, 'Oh, this is too stiff.' So, then I went into double bonded euro as my base and then started cuing the EVA. But I made two different sizes and different shapes, and I was making them out of leather, lambskin leather. When we went into the first fiing, I had a couple changes to make on the suit. The second fiing, James Gunn came in, and he goes, "Oh, I love that "S." So later, Judianna said to me, "You're going to make the "S." James loves them." So, I started making them out of leather with EVA foam, and it became a lile bit hard once I knew the amount I had to make, because there's a specific bevel on the inside of that leer. You cannot rush anything like that, especially with the bevels. The bevels were the ones that were killing me because I had to sit there with my hand almost holding one hand holding the other so it wouldn't turn and I made them. I made 13 "S" emblems. Then there was another meeting. And Judianna comes back, and she goes, so you can remake the "S?" And I was like, "What happened?!" She goes, "Well, James thinks it looks like mustard and ketchup, because of the leather." So now we have to have dimension. So, we tried painting on the leather, and it was still flat, so we ended up going with euro jersey, single euro and we had it printed with lile designs they put in. So that's what gave it the dimension. KM: I was responsible for Superman and Ultraman, and later on, I took over some check fits and things with other characters aer the other paernmakers le the show.
