LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2025 • 11 included and involved and especially honored to learn more about the emotional journeys of these projects, like the true-life tragedy Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, and The Apprentice which managed to complete production in 30 days at 50 different Toronto locations during the 2023 SAG/WGA strikes." Parker also weighed in about his moderating experience: "I had a great time interviewing the 2025 nominees! It was so interesting to hear about the challenges other location managers have overcome, from keeping their crew safe to polar bears to filming a period piece around mass gentrification to navigating around the SAG and WGA strikes. It was an honor and a privilege to speak to the very best in our field." After a few years of co- moderating this event, I had the privilege of producing it in its entirety for the first time. It was a whirlwind of coordination between dozens of finalists in different countries and time zones. I was grateful to have a dedicated team of co-moderators and look forward to including more moderators for future panels. It is always such a treat to correspond with colleagues from around the globe in preparation for these panels, to get to have a conversation with them about their tales from the trenches in front of an audience of our peers, and in some cases to later meet these finalists in person at the Awards Show. Beyond just commiserating about the technical complexities of our work, these panels really give the creativity of the location department a chance to shine. Moderator Vreeland said of her experience: "It was a pleasure to interview fellow location professionals from around the world. I enjoyed exploring the way they handled various situations. It was both an opportunity to learn new ways of doing things, and also validating similar challenges that I and others have come across in the profession."
