10 • LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2025 Meet the 2025 LMGI Award Finalists On August 9 and August 10, the LMGI presented another round of its "Meet the Finalists" Zoom panel series, produced and moderated by myself, and co-moderated by members Miguel Tapia, Gina Vreeland, James Parker, John Rizzi and JP O'Connor. These popular panels have become so well attended that it was once again necessary to split the event into four sessions over two days. The Q&A sessions featured lively chats with the location professionals behind the 2025 LMGI Award-nominated features, television and commercials. Guild members JJ Levine, Les Fincher and LMGI Communications and Operations Director Erika Howard assisted the moderators and worked behind the scenes in keeping the sessions running smoothly. We kicked off our first panel on August 9 with finalists from contemporary and period features. Location managers from Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, Gladiator II, Sinners, A Real Pain, Anora, Fly Me to the Moon, A Complete Unknown, The Apprentice and Twisters. During the second panel on August 9, we spoke with finalists from the Period Television category: One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon S2, Godfather of Harlem S4, 1923 S2, Dark Winds S3. On August 10, an equally spirited Contemporary Television Panel consisted of location managers for The Day of the Jackal, Slow Horses S4, MobLand, The Studio, The Last of Us S2 and Landman. Our fourth and final panel closed out the event with a Army National Guard commercial, and limited series finalists from Adolescence, Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, American Primeval, Dope Thief and The Penguin. Moderator Vreeland said of her experience: "It was a pleasure to interview fellow location professionals from around the world. I enjoyed exploring the way they handled various situations. It was both an opportunity to learn new ways of doing things, and also validating similar challenges that I and others have come across in the profession. Afterward, I was reminded that we are a unique and fascinating bunch. What a location professional must accomplish to make sure the magic apparent onscreen is extraordinary. Being a moderator for the LMGI reminded me of the truth of us: We are talented, we are resourceful, we are strong, we are location managers." Moderator O'Connor had this to say: "I was thrilled to be Classic and international gardens, roads, ponds, mature trees, statues, architecture.
