Next up, mixing the My Space documentary with longtime collaborator, filmmaker Tommy Avallone. Richard Lightstone CAS AMPS is gratefully working on the gift that keeps on giving, Criminal Minds: Evolution, Season 4, with boom operator Eddie Casares and 2nd boom/ sound utility Jennifer Winslow. Say Nothing for FX/HULU, mixed by Karol Urban CAS MPSE and Jamie Hardt CAS, received a Peabody Award. Karol also mixed and sound designed the film She Follows, which premiered at Dances with Films. Additionally, Netflix's The Hunting Wives was mixed by Karol and David Tichauer CAS and debuted in July. Having just finished the film Chasing Kiarra, Karol is eager to start the next project. From CAS Past President and current voice actor, Ed Moskowitz CAS was recently on the 2025 Dave Koz jazz cruise, which started in Amsterdam and then traveled to Rotterdam, Netherlands; Leirvik, Norway; Måloy, Norway; Húsavik, Iceland; Isafjördur, Iceland; and Reykjavik, Iceland. "Before we left Reykjavik, I received an email from the producers of the anime show Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, for which I portrayed The King, with rewrites and a very short turnaround deadline. I found myself in my hotel room having to do a remote dubbing session. From Reykjavik to Burbank 'live'—always lots of fun!" Philip Perkins CAS has been busy with the mix of a new ballet film, The Beauty of Dissolving Portraits, featuring trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire. Philip also provided the broadcast mixes for Flicka, a doc about opera diva Frederika von Stade. Both projects aired on PBS. Production sound mixer Brett Murray CAS, boom operator Dennis Sanborn, and sound utility Matt Thompson are currently working on Cape Fear, a 10-episode psychological thriller from NBCUniversal and Apple, inspired by the original feature film. The series breathes new life into the iconic story, with a bold, cinematic approach about a happily married couple facing a growing threat when a notorious killer from their past, Max Cady, is released from prison and seeks revenge. Filming is taking place across Georgia, capturing the eerie beauty and Southern atmosphere that give Cape Fear its edge. With a star-studded cast and a storyline full of unexpected twists, each episode promises to keep viewers on edge. Guiding the creative direction of the series is showrunner Nick Antosca, along with producer Alex Hedlund. Joining them are executive producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. Production wraps this fall, with the series expected to premiere in 2026. Gavin Fernandes CAS finished the feature Kaboul-Montreal and now starts the Netflix series One Piece: Project Renaissance, which will go for several months. "Wishing everyone a safe and happy summer!" David Fluhr CAS and Gabriel Guy CAS are about to embark on the mix of Walt Disney Animation Studio's Zootopia 2 at Disney Digital Studio Services & Skywalker Sound. Mixing in native Atmos with additional IMAX delivery. Re-recording mixer Chip Sovek CAS MPSE and his team at Spinn Creative have been keeping busy. So far this year, they've completed Saturnalia, a high-concept homage to the cerebral and stylish world of 1970s Italian giallo and supernatural horror. Directed by Daniel Lerch, with a haunting original score by Claudio Simonetti (Goblin, Suspiria), the film showcases Spinn Creative's sound design and re-recording mix, helping to bring the surreal, psychological tension of the genre to life. The team has also completed Claim the Lane (Becoming Roxy), a visceral, independent documentary by Jesse Huffman that explores the competitive world of gravel bike racing. Chip and his team contributed months of field recording, immersive sound design, and final re-recording to authentically capture the physical intensity and emotional grit of Roxy's journey. Finally, full sound post was provided for two new documentaries for National Geographic Society's Pristine Seas initiative. These globally focused projects support the protection of our oceans, and Spinn continues to collaborate on three additional films set to release this fall, delivering their message in dynamic 5.1 theatrical mixes. From Marlowe Taylor CAS AMPAS: I just wrapped in Texas on the incredible show Family Movie, starring the entire Bacon family—Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, and their talented kids, Travis and Sosie Bacon. It was an absolute joy mixing this one, with the added bonus of Kevin and Kyra also stepping in as directors. Even more special: Both of my kids were on the crew! My daughter, Jada, worked in wardrobe and my son, MJ, joined the sound team as utility. It truly lived up to its name—a double "Family Movie" in every sense! I am now deep into prep for my next show, Buddy, with another show lined up for October. I'm feeling hopeful that this year is opening up in a big way for all of us in the industry. Also on the "Done That" list, I was recently interviewed for TV Tech magazine about Wisycom's Fiber system, an RF upgrade I'm really glad I made. Reach out on IG or email if you'd like some info. That's all for now. You know my motto: Don't forget to press record and always stay digital (aka awesome)!
