ENSHCEDE, NETHERLANDS — Movella (www.movella.com), the developer of inertial motion-capture technology, has released Xsens Animate 2025, the latest update to its mocap software for film, TV and video game production. The new release enables creators to achieve more realistic animations thanks to native male and female anatomy models, enhanced data accuracy and a refined user interface. Movella's Xsens inertial motion-capture technology is a camera-less tech- nology that integrates into all major 3D software pipelines, including Unreal Engine, Unity and Maya. Xsens Animate 2025 further improves the mocap ex- perience by creating a more realistic 3D model. The spine model is now more precise when recording standing or bending motions, enabling more accurate motion-capture data of the performer. This comes alongside male and female anatomy models, plus the legacy original model, providing more accurate proportions for male and female subjects. The most notable differences are shoulder width, hip width and center of mass. The update also makes setup a smoother experience. The experimental auto sensor mapping feature for the Awinda system enables mocap professionals to start recording performances faster without the need for precise placement of its 17 sensors. Instead, the software automatically recognizes the placement and attributes it to the correct part of the body. A refined design, based on industry feedback, also allows professionals to access key tools more efficient- ly. And the introduction of dark mode enhances user comfort during longer studio sessions, including colored backgrounds for easy chroma keying or for aesthetic preference.
