Spring 2025
As part of the festival, the
LMGI's panel, Location
Managing Across Continents,
explored our critical role
in both storytelling and
production. The discussion
focused on the global impact
of the craft by showcasing
how diverse locations can
elevate a cinematic narrative.
A mostly self-guided
FamTour of Cairo and its
surrounding areas was also
on the group's itinerary
during the week-long event.
Enthuses Easterbrook,
"This was my first trip to
the region, and it was an
incredible experience. Seeing
the Pyramids of Giza with
their iconic history in person
was amazing. CIFF's Sara
Nour arranged for us to scout
Saqqara Pyramid, a less
touristy and more hands-
on experience at the oldest
pyramid site in Egypt! I also
loved the Khan el-Khalili
bazaar filled with the vibrant
stalls of food, souvenirs and
handicrafts."
This visit, while a return to
Egypt for Bensch, was still
full of surprises. "I had been
to the Old Egyptian Museum,
but the new Great Egyptian
Museum—or GEM as it's
called—is an architectural
marvel which is just mind
blowing. It is located right
next to the most famous
pyramids in the world on the
outskirts of Cairo in Giza."
Another surprise was the
EMPC itself, one of the
Guild's new partners in the
MOU. "We went to see a huge
studio and backlot complex
I had no idea existed," he
relates. "Dozens of state-
of-the-art stages and about
10 backlots ranging from
period London sets to rural
Egypt combined with a film
