18 • LMGI COMPASS | Spring 2025 LMGI Oceania "Catch-Up" at Hickson House By Lisa Scope/LMGI, Regional Director, Oceania Region In April, the film-friendly Hickson House Distilling Co. hosted a passionate group of LMGI members for an engaging discussion about the future of filming in the Oceania Region. Members attending included myself, Paul Pinter, David Watts, James Doherty, Estee Chang, Chris Reynolds, Magdalene Phillips and Anton Denby. We were thrilled to have Cato Location Services, our new business partner, join us and generously shout drinks for the first hour, setting the perfect tone for a great evening! The energy in the room was palpable as we explored key topics, such as the need for more regional events, the possibility of FamTours, and other exciting opportunities to network and expand membership. Kieran Cato, managing director, says, "The LMGI plays an important role in the Australian production landscape. As a global network of leading professionals, the Guild champions efficient, sustainable and innovative approaches. We are proud to be aligned with this industry- leading organization, whose influence spans six continents. We're excited to see how the LMGI continues to elevate and shape the future of filming in Australia and around the world." Enthuses Estee Chang, "The evening was a fantastic opportunity for experts and newcomers alike to share recent experiences, exchange insights and strengthen the ties that make our community so unique." Chris Reynolds adds: "The setting was superb— Hickson House is a cocktail bar and distillery, inside a heritage-listed warehouse, within skipping distance of the world-famous Sydney Harbour. We enjoyed cocktails and charcuterie while discussing the need to encourage more young people to choose locations as a career path, and the required training pathways and internships to facilitate this. Moving forward, we hope regular gatherings will encourage even stronger camaraderie amongst the location L-R: Rhavin Banda, James Doherty/LMGI. professionals working in our region."
